Imported from Wales as a prizewinning foal in 1986, Dafydd needs little or no introduction. Having proven himself as a real Welsh gentleman and showman at all major shows shown, and making his mark as a sire of top quality offspring both purebred and partbred. Dafydd has been three times Supreme champion at the Royal Winter Fair, and many times Grand Champion Stallion. His daughter Brookside Serenade was also supreme champion there and at other major shows, and also at The American Nationals. His half welsh daughter, Madam Alexander is the very successful and well known Large Pony Hunter Champion who was awarded the prestigious award of Overall Pony Hunter Champion at the 2003 Pony Hunter Finals in Ohio. This pony is a registered half Welsh mare out of a champion sport horse, and was bred by Laurel Scott in Ontario. Dafydd produces extremely kind, gentle, and correct offspring that excel in most performance disciplines, making reliable children's mounts and family pony allrounders. Dafydd is seldom shown these days. His winning ways, however, are perpetuated by his children and grandchildren, like Brookside Solo, Serenade, and Song of Dafydd. No one can guarantee what gender a stallion will produce most often but it
can be noted that Dafydd has produced to-date almost 95 % fillies, having
only produced colts three times, one of which was International Champion Brookside
Sparkler, who was exported to Wales several years ago with his owner. [Click to see another photo of Friars Brenin Dafydd]
