Bergenia, a tremendous character, and wonderful mother, has gone beyond exceeding the requirements for a broodmare. To quote
both Wynne Davies (Ceulan Stud) and John Jones (Coed Coch Stud), who both saw her at separate times, when they visited Canada
at Brookside.."she looks so much like Coed Coch Berwynfa, it is remarkable." A big up to height mare who's father Belvoir Jasper
went over British height and so showed in NPS under saddle classes, beating in the process many prestigious ponies of his time.

Born in 1981 at the famous Belvoir Castle stud owned by Anne Duchess of Rutland. Bergenia was purchased and exported to Canada
by Anita Nielson, of the Snow Pony Stud. Bergenia was broken to ride while at Anita's Stud, and went on to win several hunter
Championships, following in her fathers footsteps. She produced only two fillies, neither belonging to her present owner unfortunately.
Brookside Stud purchased this wonderful mare in 1992 when The Snow Pony Stud disbanded. Since then she has produced 9 colts for us,
all first rate under saddle ponies with lovely movement and kind temperaments....our only regret is they were not fillies! Some of her sons are: Brookside Baccardi - Stallion at Wynnbrook Farm, Brookside Biscotti - Devon Champion, Brookside Baccus - sold to Gayfields Stud, and Brookside Bragger and Brookside Bounce - both standing in Delaware. Bergenia is now retired and in charge of the gelded colts.
